Lovers in La Jolla // Sydney + Trevor

My first ever trip to California was filled with excitement to say the least! I was lucky enough to stay for about a week right in San Diego.  What a place! Not to mention getting out of Michigan winter for warmer temps was amazing, although everyone I met said it was unseasonably cold for California at the time. All I know is that I didn’t have to be bundled up in a winter coat and snow boots so that was a win in my book. Random side note: Blink 182’s California album was also on repeat during my trip. When in California, you blast California. It just felt appropriate.

During my stay I met so many sweet new friends including Melanie Diezel who I got to hear speak at Social Media Marketing World – she is one amazing creative! She asked if I could photograph her speaking engagement but we also ended up doing portraits afterward. Check out the portrait gallery to see those!

Another amazing person I was fortunate to meet and see perform was Peter Hollens. HOLY TALENT. If you’ve never heard him sing, do your ears a favor and have a listen. We spent some time wandering around downtown San Diego taking new lifestyle photos for him. He’s also in the portrait gallery!

And finally who this entire post is for – Sydney and Trevor! I connected with Sydney, a fellow photographer, prior to arriving in San Diego and we made plans to wander La Jolla. She had such a fun personality you couldn’t help but feel like you’d been friends with her forever. It was nice to know someone who could recommend the best places to visit and eat during my stay. (Thanks for the hook up, lady!)

During our session she and Trevor said they hadn’t had photos taken since their wedding so that was extra special. You could feel the love between them, the entire time was filled with smiles and laughs. At one point the water came rolling in and absolutely soaked both Trevor and my shoes (RIP white Converse) but instantly we were all cracking up over it.

I am so incredibly lucky to meet other talented creatives through photography. Sydney was gracious enough to take new headshots of me during our session, the ones you see on my about page were taken by her!

San Diego is absolutely on my list of places to go back to and it’s safe to say I’m jealous they get to call this gorgeous place home!
